Code Sun Walk Held to Celebrate DMC Employee

Mar 23, 2021

Doctors Medical Center held a “Code Sun” celebratory walk for a very special patient. Carrie Briggs, 42, joined our team as a traveling mammographer just weeks before she was diagnosed with gastric cancer. Our team took her in as family through her treatments and cancer journey. Carrie received her final round of chemotherapy and we helped her celebrate by lining the hallways to cheer and clap for her. We’re so proud of you, Carrie!

“I’m standing here because of all of you. I came here as a traveler in a strange city and you all became like my family. I was never alone through this and I love you all so much,” Carrie said.

During a “Code Sun” walk at Doctors Medical Center, the song “Here Comes the Sun” by The Beatles plays over the hospital speakers to let others know that we’re celebrating the discharge of a patient who has spent more than 30 days in the hospital or a patient who successfully fought through a grueling illness or treatment, like Carrie.
