Doctors Medical Center Offering Virtual Stop the Bleed Classes

Jun 5, 2020

Doctors Medical Center is now offering virtual Stop the Bleed classes for the community, which are free and open to the public.

Stop the BleedThe classes focus on recognizing life-threatening bleeding situations, immediate response and techniques to stop the bleeding. With the right training, you can help save lives.

“Cutting yourself while cooking in the kitchen or working in a wood shop, or falling and getting a major cut; for people on blood thinners a bump can cause major blood loss,” Rena Lepard, RN, Injury Prevention Coordinator at Doctors Medical Center, told The Modesto Bee when speaking about the importance of the class.

A bleeding control kit is recommended for these classes, but is not required. Kits can be purchased at stopthebleed.org or other sites online. Please only purchase the C-A-T tourniquet. Participants who do not own a bleeding control kit will have an opportunity to practice hands-on wound packing and tourniquet applications post COVID-19 social distancing restrictions.

Registration is required for these virtual classes and space is limited. To register, please head to the Doctors Medical Center Facebook page and click on events. Dates and times are also listed.

For more information, please contact Rena Lepard at (209) 342-3459.
