Dr. Damandeep Baidwan’s Bio:
I was born and brought up in Punjab, India. I am fluent in four languages: Punjabi, Hindi, Urdu, and of course English. After graduating from high school, I migrated to the US with my family. I am the first member in my family to be given the opportunity to go to college. I joined community college and being good in science, I took the opportunity to support my college education from tutoring services. Further, I transferred to UC Davis to pursue biology. I joined Sahaita, a non-profit org, which helps organize medical camps to screen uninsured patients in the Indian community for chronic health problems. Also I was able to work on Autism research projects funded by the public health department. Having a deep interest in preventative medicine, I proceeded with my master’s degree in Public Health and worked on projects involving breastfeeding initiatives and pediatric obesity which expanded and solidified my interest in pursuing primary care; I then joined medical school at St. George’s University. I am married and my husband is pursuing residency training in another state. Before starting residency, we traveled to India on a missionary trip as well as to visit family. Outside of work, I enjoy playing the Harmonium, which is a keyboard instrument. In the future, I am hoping to stay in the Central Valley and practice the whole spectrum of family medicine in a teaching facility and continue my missionary trips to India.
