Leadership Academy Students Visit Doctors Medical Center

Mar 28, 2022

Doctors Medical Center was proud to host students from Leadership Academy for Heath Care Day on March 4, 2022.

Leadership Academy is an innovative program designed to develop the leadership potential of high school juniors and seniors in Stanislaus County. The program brings together youth and public and private organizations to discuss and explore leadership in unique and innovative ways.

Participants interact with their peers and community leaders during full-day sessions to learn firsthand about emerging community issues and increase their awareness of local career opportunities so that they return to Stanislaus County for work after attending a secondary school or training program. Program benefits include business and community networking, scholarship, and volunteer opportunities.

One Friday each month, students tour behind the scenes of various community businesses, agencies and nonprofits. Themed days typically include healthcare, public safety, education, manufacturing, agriculture, nonprofits and media.

During their time at Doctors Medical Center, the students received a tour, which included the hospital’s rooftop helipad. As part of a presentation by operating room staff, the students had the opportunity to suit up in operating room gear and engage in hands-on learning suturing oranges.
