PACU Nurse Elected as Vice President-President Elect for ASPAN

May 26, 2023

Congratulations to Lori Silva, Postanesthesia Care Unit (PACU) nurse at Doctors Medical Center, who was nominated and elected as the American Society of PeriAnesthesia Nurses (ASPAN) Vice President-President Elect for the 2023-2024 Board of Directors.

“Belonging to ASPAN and other professional organizations has kept me excited about my profession. I enjoy continuing to learn and be involved in the development of current evidence-based practice, clinical expertise, standards of care and education,” Lori said.

Lori says she is honored to serve and represent more than 60,000 perianesthesia nurses from across the country. Her current role is a three-year term. The first year she will serve as Vice President and then she will take over as President in April 2024. She will then serve as Immediate Past President in April 2025.

“In my current role as Vice President-President Elect, I am a part of the Nursing Community Coalition and Governmental Affairs Strategic Work Team that looks at legislation that impacts our current and future nursing workforce,” Lori continued.

Lori has served in a variety of leadership positions in ASPAN, most recently as Treasurer. She has also served on the PeriAnesthesia Nurses Association of California Board of Directors as President, Treasurer and Education Chair.

Lori has been employed at Doctors Medical Center for nearly 40 years.
