Stroke Team Receives Proclamations from City of Ceres, San Joaquin County
May 18, 2023The stroke team at Doctors Medical Center accepted a proclamation from the City of Ceres on May 8, 2023, in honor of National Stroke Awareness Month.
The proclamation was presented to our team by Ceres Mayor Javier Lopez during the Ceres City Council meeting. Those in attendance from DMC were Dr. James Jaffe, Breanna Cabeceiras and Dorothy Trivedi. During the presentation, they had the opportunity to talk about the signs and symptoms of stroke, risk factors, types of strokes and the treatment options available at our hospital as a Comprehensive Stroke Center.
There are currently 218 Comprehensive Stroke Centers around the country and only 27 in California. Doctors Medical Center is the only center in the Central Valley, and the only one from Sacramento to outside the Bay Area and down to Southern California. Being a Comprehensive Stroke Center reflects our commitment to providing safe and quality stroke care, and is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our neuro physicians, nurses and clinical team.
In addition to the Ceres proclamation, our stroke team also accepted a Stroke Month proclamation in April on behalf of Doctors Medical Center from the San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors. The recognition was organized by Healings in Motion, which assists survivors of stroke, traumatic brain injuries and neurological impairments.
Doctors Medical Center is a top performer for stroke care when compared nationally to academic centers and other comprehensive capable centers. Our team works hard and their dedication is reflected in our outcomes.
Congratulations to our team on these wonderful accomplishments!
