Doctors Medical Center Earns Top Grade in Patient Safety from The Leapfrog Group
Oct 30, 2017Doctors Medical Center received an “A” rating in The Leapfrog Group’s Fall 2017 Safety Grade, demonstrating the hospital’s commitment to delivering safe, high-quality patient care. This is the seventh time in a row that Doctors Medical Center has received this distinction, ranking among the safest hospitals in the United States.
The Leapfrog Group Hospital Safety Grade is a rating system designed to give consumers information they can use to make healthcare decisions for themselves or a loved one. The Leapfrog Group assigns A, B, C, D and F grades to more than 2,600 U.S. hospitals based on their ability to prevent errors, injuries, accidents and infections.
“This rating recognizes our continuous commitment to placing safety at the forefront of our patients’ care,” said Warren Kirk, CEO of Doctors Medical Center. “This is a tremendous affirmation of the high standards of patient care provided by our physicians, nurses and other staff on a daily basis.”
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses national performance measures from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, Leapfrog Hospital Survey, Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and American Hospital Association’s Annual Survey and Health Information Technology Supplement. Taken together, those performance measures produce a single letter grade representing a hospital’s overall performance in keeping patients safe from preventable harm and medical errors. The Safety Grade includes 30 measures, all currently in use by national measurement and reporting programs.
