Healer’s Touch Statue Dedicated to Doctors Medical Center Team

May 12, 2021

Doctors Medical Center unveiled a special Healer's Touch statue during Nurses Week and Hospital Week that is dedicated to our caregivers. The sculpture was hand-carved by artists of the Shona Tribe in Zimbabwe. Shona healers are affectionately regarded as treasures by those they care for, and the well-being and safety of the healer is of community-wide importance.

Every day, our caregivers provide extraordinary skill and compassionate care to our patients and families. The Healer's Touch statue is a tribute to our team.

These statues are hand-carved and one of a kind. Each stands approximately 3 feet tall, weighs upwards of 150 pounds and has its own unique color, shape and character. The process to create one of these large sculptures can take up to three weeks.
